A correctness and performance release, most of it from things people reported directly. Swiping left on a song in a playlist queues it instead of playing it — the row slides under your finger, so your thumb never left the button underneath and the tap fired on release. A whole album can now be added to a playlist, from the album page or from any album cover, including straight into a brand-new playlist named after it; before this, an album could be queued but never filed. Very large playlists no longer stall the app or heat the phone: a 1,500-song playlist was re-sorting, re-reading and re-scanning itself on every update, roughly three times a frame's budget of work each time, and now does that once and reuses it. Your own imported files finally behave like songs — they can go in playlists, be liked, and show in Recently Played, and they survive a reinstall; they had been lumped in with live radio and podcast episodes. The playlist importer accepts the formats it advertises, so M3U and XSPF exports are no longer greyed out in the file picker. Transitions are cleaner on AirPlay and Bluetooth when you connect a speaker mid-blend. The mini player's play, skip and like targets meet Apple's minimum size without looking any different, and the account button now announces itself properly to VoiceOver instead of reading out an icon name. Under the hood the app measures its own performance on real devices from now on, so problems like the playlist one surface without waiting for someone to report them.
