For about two and a half hours yesterday afternoon, one connection pulled roughly forty-five thousand full-quality tracks out of Octave by pretending to be Deezer's own bandwidth tester. Nobody's account or library was touched, and nothing was lost. What it did take was capacity: Octave fetches a song nobody has played yet using a shared, finite set of accounts, and while that run was going, tens of thousands of songs other people asked for came back as thirty-second previews because there was nothing left to fetch them with. Octave already had a ceiling on how much music it pulls fresh in a day, and that ceiling held — the problem was that a single caller was allowed to spend the whole thing. There is now a second ceiling on how much any one connection can pull, set roughly twenty times higher than a heavy day of listening, so a real listener will never notice it while a sweep of the catalogue runs out of room in short order. Separately, the pass your app holds to play audio now lasts two hours instead of twelve, which shortens the window if one ever leaks. This build is the half of that change that lives on your phone: the old app assumed every pass came with an hour of slack, and a shorter pass does not, which would have surfaced as songs quietly refusing to start and downloads stopping partway. It now renews in proportion to however long the pass actually lasts. There is nothing to do on your end.
